Let your light shine for all the world to see!
Sometimes when we face difficult circumstances, it is hard to see the proverbial “light at the end of the tunnel”. In fact, it may seem as though that tunnel gets deeper and darker. It is only when we come out of those times that we realize the light was there all of the time…we just could not see it.
I’ve had my fair share of dark times, when I would not let my own light shine. When I’ve only allowed it to flicker and cast long shadows over my days. When my moods have created dark clouds that threatened to rain droplets of disappointment, fear and negativity over anyone I’d come into contact with. It is during those time that I realize how dismal things can become, and I long the most for the brightness of happier times.
When darkness comes, it is always chased away by light. Daylight filters through the darkness of night. The sun shines through the thickest clouds, causing them to scatter and reveal the brightest blue across the sky. Flip on a switch, and a lightbulb warms a gloomy room. Open your eyes widely and vivid colors dance before them. When light is present darkness flees.
We all have light within us. When you think about it, life is light, and we all shine our lights in some way or another. It is the same way in all of nature too. Life cannot be sustained in the dark, it needs light to grow and flourish. May you always strive to let your light shine, even in the darkest of nights. Let it illuminate your surroundings and produce an irresistible glow.
“You are the light of the world…let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14)
Brightness and peace to you,
