My God is an awesome God…my portion, my strength, my all.

I begin most days with prayer and meditation during my morning workouts.  The places my mind travels to while running those miles on the treadmill, set the framework for how I deal with whatever challenges I may face.  Recently, the verse from scripture below spoke to me and everything that it inspired within me, is what I’ve written in this poem.  May your day be filled with the things that inspire you as well.

“Be strong and courageous.  Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for The Lord God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)

My God Is An Awesome God

My God is an awesome God,

in your goodness no end do I see.

I shudder to think where I would be,

had you not been there for me.

My God is an awesome God,

you are my portion, my strength, my all.

Every need, every fear, every pain, every care,

I cry out and to you do I call.

My God is an awesome God,

No person on earth, no material thing,

nothing I can ever do,

Will equal the satisfaction you bring,

in the completeness of being loved by you.

My God is an awesome God,

I can never thank you enough.

I praise you, I want to obey you,

and always walk in your light.

So here I am, take hold of me,

my battles I leave for you to fight.

My God is an awesome God,

words can’t fully express my heart.

Never will I take for granted,

the timeless praise, how great thou art.
