Nope, not going there…

Nope, not going there...

Nope, not going there…tomorrow is for tomorrow, today is for today!

Left unto myself, I am a worrier.  I think it is because I am such a detail-oriented person by nature, that I get way too wrapped up in the tasks that need to be done and how I am going to accomplish them.  It doesn’t matter if I am planning to do something that I enjoy or if it is something that I consider to be burdensome, I still get caught up in the details!  At times, it takes me longer to plan out how I am going to execute a project  or whatever it may be, than it actually takes me to do  it. “Nope, not going there!” is what I say, when I find myself spending more time today,  planning for what needs to be done tomorrow. The details, the details; sometimes they cause my head to spin!

I imagine we can all appreciate trying to make our lives a little easier.  Thinking of clever ways to make a task less daunting; or at least having some sort of reward lined up to give us something to look forward to once our work is completed.  I think that is a fundamental part of who we are and how we operate.  I am much more motivated to accomplish what I set out to do when I know that the end result will be gratifying.  Even more than that, when I step back and consider what really matters, the details became less important…and finishing what I’ve started is actually what satisfies me the most.

We all have goals in life, and we all have our own paths paved and ready to be followed in reaching them.  When you come to a fork in your path, when we need to decide which direction to go, where saying “Nope, not going there,”  really means I choose this way instead of that way…where has your decision lead you?  Where are you headed?  What awaits you when you reach your destination?  Thinking in those terms, I suppose what we do with our todays is  more important than our tomorrows…..something to think about.

“As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.  She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.  But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made .  She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself?  Tell her to help me!”  “Martha, Martha,”  the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only on thing is needed.  Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”  Luke 10: 38-41

Peace,

Felecia

Great post, Felecia. I am so glad the Lord cares enough for me to work on my Mary-heart and teach me to give up my Martha-ing.

A great philosophy to avoid procrastination, something I’m guilty of.

Hah, yes Mom, I know the similarities between us in that regard quite well…but deep down we both know what and who is more important!
      I love you,
      Felecia
