Oh Happy Day!

I feel like laughing, singing, jumping for joy…oh happy day!

I dedicate this post to my husband Stephen…I love you forever!

“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!  For His mercy endures forever.” Psalm 107:1

I am sure we’ve all experienced them, those days that you awaken with a song in your heart, a delightful feeling within you that makes you want to jump for joy or laugh aloud, just because.  I am having one of those days right now.  “Oh happy day!”  That’s what I want to shout out at the top of my lungs.  What is it that’s causing me to feel this way?

I can’t always pinpoint the reason for the happiness. There are so many things in my life that I am grateful for, it would likely take me days to list them all.  For now, I shall focus on one thing, and that is being able to give.  I am happiest, and at my best, when I am able to give of myself to others.  It is when my focus is on others, and I can make a difference in their lives, that I myself am enriched and strengthened.  There is little else that picks me up more when I am down, than to share what I can to help someone else.

Recently, the doors for me to help someone in a big way have sprung wide open.  My husband has been diagnosed with an illness that will require a great deal of my help during the treatments that he will need to undergo.  Although he nor I are stepping over the threshold into this unfamiliar world eagerly, it is a place that we will journey through together.  Oh happy day?  Indeed, it is, because we know that we are not alone in this.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  Philippians 4:13

Our strength, our provision, our help and healing…all that we need, comes from God, and through His enabling we can enter into and through any challenge that we face.  Our focus is not on the gravity of our circumstances, and we do have some not so lovely days ahead of us for certain.  Focusing on what we have in Him, however, causes me to be at peace, and that is the source of my happiness, my joy.

So yes, oh happy day today and everyday…giving all that I have to see my husband through, trusting in the Lord to provide all that we need, and knowing that we are in His loving hands…oh happy day!  I shout my thanks and gratitude aloud now and always!

“Fear not for I am with you.  Do not be dismayed.  I am your God.  I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.”  Isaiah 41:10

In peace and love,

Felecia

The grateful heart is a joyful heart. I know that you both are finding your strength and peace in the source of all joy. Truly you and Steve are not alone and in the knowing of that truth there is true joy.
