In the Beginning…Christmas…creation…really?

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning.  Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.  In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:1-5)

I am always amazed at the splendor of God’s creation.  This seems a strange topic to write about during the Christmas season, in the beginning?…creation?…really?  But, oh how relevant it is, and the scripture verse referenced above says it all.

Most often when we think of Jesus Christ at Christmastime, we think of the little baby lying in a manger surrounded by his earthly parents, the angels, the shepherds, the sheep and other animals.  It is interesting that both earthly and heavenly “created beings” were present at His birth.  Who else in the history of mankind was welcomed into the world in such a way?
