On possibilities – Possibilities are endless, they come in all shapes and sizes, in all colors, and in all forms.  When I think of possibilities, I often think of them in terms of creativity.  When I dream of an idea for creating an item for my budding line of handmade gifts, it is amazing how a single element, such as the texture of a swatch of fabric opens the door for a multitude of possibilities on how to incorporate it’s uniqueness into one of my products.  Before I know it, my head is swimming with all kinds of lovely conceptualizations for intricate and elegant designs for my novelties.  For me, such possibilities have a way of kindling my creative fire…sometimes its blaze far exceeds my own expectations.  When it comes to creativity, possibilities are essential!

How about you, why not reach out and grab hold of your creative possibilities?  Let them pour out of you like a stream of gifts.  May they spill over into the lives of those around you spawning possibilities for them too…like gifts that keep on giving.

On passion…What is it that drives you, that motivates you, that propels you forward?  What evokes your most powerful emotions and musters up for you an insatiable appetite?  Whatever your passion is, there is no substitute for it.  In fact, I believe that one cannot truly live without it.  I challenge you to seek out and feed that thing that is uniquely yours.  Passion, experience it, live it, share it and inspire those around you.

Learning to fly – At times life appears to be a vast expanse of sky…that’s when it is time to take off and learn to fly!

Learning to fly, that’s what I feel like doing sometimes.  Today the sky is crisp and clear.  There are no clouds cluttering the pale, blue sheerness that seems to go on for an eternity over my head.  At times life appears to be a vast expanse of sky.  Boundaries seem limitless, opportunities burst wide open.  That’s when it’s time to take off and learn to fly!

When I speak about learning to fly, I do not mean it in a literal sense.  What I am referring to takes place within us, when we decide to spread our inner wings and travel to the next stop on our life’s journey.  We all face those times when we have to decide whether to sink or swim.  Well, learning to fly is like that, except there is more to it.  Learning to fly can be complicated if we don’t have the proper equipment, or the right instructor.  Life is a journey in which we can’t always “do-it-ourselves.”  Sometimes, like learning to fly, we need the best help available if we want to reach our destination safely and on time.  How we prepare and who’s help we seek makes all the difference; don’t you agree?

For me flying is an enjoyable thing, and when it comes to my life, I really seem to soar when God navigates my way.  When my view is cloudy and I cannot identify what is ahead of me, God’s Word gives me clear direction and guides me through even the toughest situations.  When I feel as though my emotions are causing me to do a nose dive into my troubles, He surrounds me with those who will love and take care of me, which helps me focus heavenward again.  When I’ve come to the end of one leg of my travels, He provides, at the perfect time, just what I need to get rest and renewal before taking off again.

May you turn your eyes heavenward as well, and see what God has in store to teach you.  Judging from my own experiences, I can assure you that you’ll enjoy learning to fly!

On Hope

On Hope

I often find that music without words soothes my soul to a far greater degree than when lyrics are added,  Quite honestly, I simply find the words to be distractions.   But the pure sound of an instrument being played, with all of its richness and clarity; that sparks the flame that causes me to glow.  That is what hope is like to me.  It doesn’t necessarily change the circumstances; it doesn’t necessarily lift the burden.  It does inspire me to move forward, even when I know not what is ahead of me.  It gives me the courage to face anything that clutters my path.  It gives me a melody who’s beauty drowns out any unpleasantness that may surround me.

May you sing your song of hope today and may its beauty reach the hearts of those around you.

On Luck and Chance

On Luck and Chance

This quote reminds me of when I just staring out  in my life’s work.  I remember when my future boss asked me during an interview what it was that I was seeking in the position I was applying for.  My answer began with “If given the chance…”  I can tell you, after many years of hard work, that chance had nothing to do with luck.  When we are given a chance at something in life, it is up to us to take hold of it and turn it into what we hope for.
