Memorial Day – What’s in a word?

”And each man stands with his face in the light of his own drawn sword.  Ready to do what a hero can.”  —Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Memorial Day – What’s in a word?

Remembering what others have done.

The sacrifices they’ve made, all of the battles won.

For the sake of our freedoms, you and me,

They did what they could, even though the results they did not see.

Let us pay homage to those who bravely won the victory;

May they live on and be respected, throughout history!

Felecia R. Weber 2019, www.onthewingofadove.com

To honor someone means to respect and recognize them for some exceptional task they have performed.  I doubt that anyone would argue that the most noble act that anyone can do for another is to lay down his life for them.  So many of our brave members of our Armed Forces committed themselves to doing just that every time they took up their weapons and entered into battle.  As we set aside time for honoring others on this Memorial Day, there is no escaping the solemnity of the ultimate sacrifice that so many willingly gave.  Freedom comes with a price, and the price that so many of our military men and women paid can never be fully recognized.

Won’t you join me in honoring others on this Memorial Day by pausing and giving thanks for what they gave up for you and me?

(Taken from “On Honoring Others”  www.onthewingofadove.com)

Remember the brave, remember you are free…remember what they all did for you and me…

Memorial Day – What’s in this word for you?  If you can tell me please do!

Peace and love,

Felecia

All I Ever Wanted

all I ever wanted

All I ever wanted – how can I describe it with words…

“Sometimes life fills you with the thing that you’ve longed for the most…when you finally have it, how is it that you ever lived without it?”  Felecia R. Weber

All I Ever Wanted

All I ever wanted;

How can I describe it with words?

You can’t capture the beautiful simplicity of a clear blue sky, and trap it inside a bottle…for it is too vast to be harnessed, it is the essence of freedom.

All I ever wanted;

What is it about finally having it that makes your life seem like someone suddenly unveiled the most exquisite painting…the kind that invites you to step right into its beckoning magnificence.

All I ever wanted;

It is an amazing thing that happens when what your heart craves is not simply a fleeting desire, not just a moment in time…rather, it is something that is so essential it becomes a part of you.

Felecia R. Weber 2016, OntheWingofaDove.com

When you receive the thing that you’ve longed for, when it unfolds before your very eyes…it shakes your world like a violent storm.  Yet the calmness, the peace, the wholeness that follows, is like the freshness of a dew soaked meadow…it waters your soul, continuously.

Peace and love,

Felecia

Your Life Flows Through Me

life flows through me

Photograph courtesy of Martin Watson

Your life flows through me, that truth I shall never deny…

“He that believes on me, as the scripture said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”  John 7:38

Your Life Flows Through Me

Your life flows through me, indeed this is true,

I cannot imagine what I’d be Lord, without you.

A lifeless frame, without motion, without light;

like having a pair of eyes without the ability of sight.

The world around me would be foreign and cold.

My days wouldn’t matter; I’d just shrivel up and grow old.

Your life flows through me, therefore I am vibrant and strong!

In you I have a purpose, and to accomplish it is for what I long.

Each day that I awake, I seek your guidance on what to do.

In you is my hope, Lord, for true goodness only comes from you.

Your life flows through me, that truth I shall never deny.

May I always serve you willingly, never asking why.

What freedom, what peace, what joy you’ve given to me.

My thanks, my praise, my all, I give to thee.

Felecia R. Weber 2015, OntheWingofaDove.com

When I envision life, like the scripture above, I envision a stream of sparking water flowing through an exquisitely made frame that possesses a multitude of capabilities.  What is even more wondrous to me is who’s life actually flows through me…

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:  no man come unto the Father, but by me.”  John 14:6

May the life of the Lord flow within you…and may that life also flow into the lives of those around you.

Peace and love,

Felecia

A Beautiful Thing

A Beautiful Thing

A beautiful thing…There is a certain freedom in having less rather than more. When all of the adornments have been stripped away…

“I thought I was rich because I had this one flower; but I see that all I have is an ordinary rose…”  Antoine de Saint-Exupery (The Little Prince)

A Beautiful Thing

What do you have when you think you haven’t anything?

What you have…is a beautiful thing.

There is a certain freedom in having less rather than more.

When all of the adornments have been stripped away;

and all that is left is the bare wood, or the rust colored clay.

What is left when the shelf is empty, when the wall is blank?

What is left…is a beautiful thing.

How can one make something from nothing?

“That’s impossible,” one might say.

I beg to differ, there is purity, there is strength, there is dignity;

for when all is exposed and left out to decay…

only the solid pieces remain…building blocks that sustain.

So what do you have when all you have left are shattered parts that once were whole?

There you have it…a beautiful thing…a new creation…from the old is born the new.

His Eye Is On The Sparrow

His Eye Is On The Sparrow

“An Old Song,” 1874, William John Hennessy. Image from a page of the 2014 Desk Calendar, courtesy of The Metropolitan Museum of Art Store

“His Eye Is On The Sparrow” – That song brings back sweet memories for me…knowing that God cares so much, makes me feel light and happy and free!

“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?  Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.”  Matthew 10:29

“His Eye Is On The Sparrow”

“His eye is on the sparrow,”

that song brings back sweet memories for me.

Knowing that God cares so much,

makes me feel light and happy and free!

During times when I tend to worry,

and the times when I tend to fret.

Those words remind me of His love,

and life’s troubles I soon forget.

“His eye is on the sparrow,”

as God ceaselessly watches over the earth.

He has never taken His eyes off me,

not ever, since the moment of my birth.

“His eye is on the sparrow,”

His faithful love always sees me through.

That assuredness can be yours as well.

Turn it over to Him; He’ll care for you too.

Felecia R. Weber 2015, OntheWingofaDove.com

Freedom from worry is a wonderful thing.  Knowing for certain that nothing can take place in your life apart from the loving and protecting arms of our Heavenly Father…priceless.  That’s the kind of wealth that I seek…what about you?

Peace and love,

Felecia

On Flying

On Flying

flyingA Quote to Carry You

January 12, 2015

“You haven’t seen a tree until you’ve seen its shadow from the sky.”  Amelia Earhart

Flying…what comes to your mind when you think of it?  For me, I think of freedom, a lightness of being, as if I’ve entered into a realm like no other.  Indeed, flying isn’t something that comes naturally to us.  There are many who spend a lifetime simply stuck to the ground.  They look up at the sky, but never reach out far enough to embrace it.  For those who choose to sprout their imaginary wings…flying is filled with limitless possibilities!  The world looks completely different when seen through a fresh viewpoint.

Why not spread your wings today and experience your world through a whole new depth of vision…just imagine what awaits you!

Peace and love,

Felecia

A Quote to Carry You – January 13, 2014

A quote to carry you - January 13, 2014A Quote to Carry You

January 13, 2014

“Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom.” Thomas Jefferson

I was struck by the truth in this statement when I first read it.  To be honest with yourself and to those around you is also a freedom of sorts…you never need to hide from anyone or anything when everything is out in the open.

Peace,

Felecia
