On Things Remembered

On Things Remembered

on Things RememberedA Quote to Carry You

August 10, 2015

“A good character is the best tombstone.  Those who loved you and were helped by you will remember you when forget-me-nots have withered.  Carve your name on hearts, not on marble.”  Charles Spurgeon

On things remembered – I’ll admit, I do not have a strong memory when it comes to retaining facts about things that do not interest me.  I really have to make an effort to write such things down and refer to them later if I am going to even have a chance of remembering anything about them.  I have a much easier time remembering those things that have to do with my own interests.

The same goes for remembering past events in my life.  Oh the memories of the wonderful times I’ve shared with my family and friends.  Those things remembered, have an uncanny way of entering into the present when I recall them.  Sometimes those special moments can be so vivid that they seem tangible, like I am actually reliving them.  I suppose the more precious are those things remembered, the closer they are to my heart…and the more I want to keep them alive.

May you recall often, those things remembered that are dear to you.  And when you do, may they remain alive and well in your heart always.

Peace and love,

Felecia

The Human Touch

The human touch

The Human Touch – Walking along hand in hand, no words need to be spoken…

“When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand.”  Henri Nouwen

The Human Touch

Walking along hand in hand,

no words need to be spoken.

The human touch can be all that we need,

to repair that which was broken.

A gentle pat on the back,

a warm, lingering embrace.

The human touch can be all that we need,

to help overcome the challenges that we face.

An outstretched arm in the nick of time;

a kiss on the cheek in greeting.

The human touch can be all that we need,

unlike words that can sometimes be fleeting.

A firm handshake to solidify a pledge;

a gesture that makes a promise sure.

The human touch can be all that we need,

to make matters of the heart secure.

Felecia R. Weber 2015, OntheWingofaDove.com

There is something very powerful about the human touch.  One of the most soothing and comforting things that I remember about the tender moments that I’ve shared with my husband are when we simply walked along together hand in hand.  No words needed to be exchanged; we simply spoke to each other through the power of the human touch.  It seems like whenever I sit down, my little dog Bilbo loves to hop into my lap and snuggle up close to my chest.  Although he isn’t human, I think I enjoy that warm, closeness with him just as much as he seems to.

Indeed, the power of the human touch is soothing, confirming, enjoyable and healing.   May you experience that power by sharing the gift of your touch in a meaningful way with others today.

Peace and love,

Felecia

On Warmth

On Warmth

on warmthA Quote to Carry You

August 3, 2015

“The consciousness of loving and being loved brings a warmth and richness to life that nothing else can bring.”  Oscar Wilde

On warmth – Warmth comes in many different forms, and in many different degrees.  Indeed, this summer we are experiencing some of the hottest temperatures ever recorded.  Sometimes the warmth of the bright sun combined with a thick layer of humidity can feel dense enough to slice through.  During this time of year, there have been days where droplets of sweat have formed on my forehead after taking just one step outside the door!  Be that as it may, there is one form of warmth that can heat up our hearts even faster…the warmth of love.

To me, being loved and genuinely wanted and cared for can cause a warmth to radiate straight through to my heart.  In fact, knowing that I am truly loved can spark a flame within me that causes my entire world to glow.  To experience the warmth that is produced by love is a temperature that I am comfortable with any time of year.

May your heart be wrapped so tightly within a blanket of love today that its warmth causes you to glow…and warm up others around you.

Peace and love,

Felecia

Something About Being a Mother

Something about being a mother

This photograph captures what I tried to express in my poem below, “There’s Something About Being a Mother.” Pictured here is first-time mom Jennifer Spangler and her adorable baby girl, Lilli.

There is something about being a mother, that inseparable bond…between mother and child.

“Mother, the ribbons of your love are woven around my heart.”  Author Unknown

Something About Being a Mother

There is something about being a mother,

her love for her child creates an inseparable bond.

She sees every action, hears every word, she senses every thought.

Her love has no boundaries that her child can go beyond.

There is something about being a mother,

you have to experience being one to know…

how difficult, how wonderful, how caring for the needs of another,

can give you the strength to go to depths you otherwise would not go.

There is something about being a mother,

she gives all that she can for her precious child.

She teaches, she admonishes, she points to the best way to go.

No matter if she’s disappointed; her love is still tender and mild.

There is something about being a mother,

it is a privilege not every woman has known.

The awesome responsibility, the heartache, the joy.

She is like a beautiful blossom, that grows from a seed deeply sown.

My best wishes to all mothers, for a very Happy Mother’s Day!

Peace and love,

A Beautiful Thing

A Beautiful Thing

A beautiful thing…There is a certain freedom in having less rather than more. When all of the adornments have been stripped away…

“I thought I was rich because I had this one flower; but I see that all I have is an ordinary rose…”  Antoine de Saint-Exupery (The Little Prince)

A Beautiful Thing

What do you have when you think you haven’t anything?

What you have…is a beautiful thing.

There is a certain freedom in having less rather than more.

When all of the adornments have been stripped away;

and all that is left is the bare wood, or the rust colored clay.

What is left when the shelf is empty, when the wall is blank?

What is left…is a beautiful thing.

How can one make something from nothing?

“That’s impossible,” one might say.

I beg to differ, there is purity, there is strength, there is dignity;

for when all is exposed and left out to decay…

only the solid pieces remain…building blocks that sustain.

So what do you have when all you have left are shattered parts that once were whole?

There you have it…a beautiful thing…a new creation…from the old is born the new.

Can You Feel What I Feel?

Can you feel what I feel

Can you feel what I feel?  The warmth of the fire that burns within me.  When your eye catches mine and we needn’t exchange words.

“Ever has it been that love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation.”  Khalil Gibran

Can You Feel What I Feel?

Can you feel what I feel?

The warmth of the fire that burns within me.

When your eye catches mine and we needn’t exchange words.

The sun doesn’t have to be shining when love glows that brightly.

All is right, all is perfect between us, nothing can separate us, can it?

Can you feel what I feel?

The blackness that hovers around me now because you are not here.

The smothering pain that tightens with every breath that I take.

Everywhere I turn, emptiness fills the space that you once occupied.

It seems like a part of me is missing; I am incomplete.

Can you feel what I feel?

Of course, you must, yes I know that you can.

For there in your heart, even though invisible, it is there.

I know because it is deep within my heart too…

Love knows no boundaries, not even time nor space.

Can you feel what I feel?

The love that still exists between us, the love that still binds us.

Feel it, caress it, hold onto it tightly…and never let it go.

They say that love is just a feeling, an emotion at best.

But no, to me love is alive and it never stops growing…

Love is eternal…and it keeps you alive in my heart always.

Felecia R, Weber 2015, OntheWingofaDove.com

No matter what happens in life, or death, love is a power that binds.  Once it is born, nurtured and matures, it may take on various forms, but I believe it never truly dies.  May the love that you share with those who are dear to you always grow unhindered and live on in your hearts always.

Peace and love,

Felecia

On Listening

On Listening

on listeningA Quote to Carry You

November 10, 2014

“I believe life is much more meaningful when we spend more time listening with our hearts than with our ears.”  Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Our daily world is flooded with the “noise of life.”  Sometimes the volume is turned up so high we can hardly think.  When this happens, I envision an internal switch, that when I turn it to the “off” position, my physical world is instantly silent.  The only way I can hear anything is by listening through my heart.  Oh the wonderful things I am told; oh the glorious revelations my heart holds.

What about you…what are you listening to?  Does it come from what you hear from your ears…or your heart?

Peace and love,

Felecia

On the Future

On the Future

on the futureA Quote to Carry You

November 3, 2014

“…No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things that God has prepared for those who love him.”  1 Corinthians 2:9

This verse explains it perfectly…that is my  future.  The hope, the wonder, the inexpressible joy that fills my heart when I think of what my Heavenly Father has in store for me; for my future.  I am beaming!

Peace and love,

Felecia
