A Hill’s Hounds Happy Christmas

A Hill’s hounds happy Christmas

“What’s that?” you ask of me.

Well grab some hot chocolate; pull up a chair,

And I’ll tell you what you can expect to see…

happy Christmas

Mardi Gras

First, sitting up from his cozy bed, posing quietly,

There’s Mardi Gras dressed like Santa; he’s as cute as can be!

happy Christmas

Penny Sparkle

Next, there’s Penny Sparkle, and what an adorable sight!

She’s nestled under the Christmas tree; with her eyes dazzling bright.

happy Christmas

Oscar

Then, I think there’s a reindeer that I see with my eyes…

Hey! Wait a minute…it’s little Oscar in disguise!

happy Christmas

Halo

Finally, there’s Halo, adorned in her holiday scarf; she looks so pretty too.

If she could talk, she’d say a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!

Silent Night

“A Silent Night,” photograph by Felecia R. Weber 2015, OntheWingofaDove.com

Silent night so dark, yet so bright, oh the wonder the shepherds found in you…

“I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”  John 8:2

Silent Night

Silent night so dark, yet so bright,

Oh the wonder the shepherds found in you.

Not a word spoken, Lord, could tell of your glory,

In the way that you’ve shown your love to be true.

Silent night so dark, yet so bright,

What treasure to the world laid there in that stall.

In you Lord, there is peace, triumph, joy and love.

May those who seek find in you their all.

One of my fondest memories about the Christmas season is singing so many of the moving and heartwarming Christmas hymns and carols.  As young girls, my older sister Marjorie and I enjoyed that tradition almost every evening leading up to the holiday.  One of our daily chores while growing up was to wash the dinner dishes.  Although we took turns washing or drying the dishes, I think we’d both agree that it was certainly not our favorite thing to do…except during the weeks leading up to Christmas Day.

As the excitement of the season began to build, Marjorie and I would incorporate our holiday cheer into our dishwashing time by singing our favorite Christmas songs.  Between the traditional hymns that we sang in our church choir and the novel carols we’d learned in our music classes at school, we had quite a number of songs to choose from.  Even so, one of my favorite songs was, and still is “Silent Night, Holy Night,” (composed by Franz Xaver, lyrics by Joseph Mohr).  There is just something about the lyrics, “Silent night, holy night, all is calm, all is bright,” that warms me up more than a  cozy fire, or a hot cup of cocoa ever can.  The scene that the words depicts is one that can brighten any darkened sky…for in the silence of that Christmas night, God bestowed upon us His one true and Holy light.

May the light of our Lord Jesus Christ whose birth we celebrate during this Holy season never cause you to be silent…but may you resonate His saving grace and love throughout the world!

Peace and love,

Felecia

On Starting Over

On Starting Over

on starting overA Quote to Carry You

September 7, 2015

“It’s never too late to be what you might have been.”  George Eliot

On starting over – September for me always signifies the start of something new.  As summer fades, students head back to school, and many businesses gear up for the busiest shopping season of the year – the air seems to fill up with a sense of starting over.  If you are like me, there are may activities and traditions that I look forward to and enjoy during the autumn and the holiday seasons.  Although many of the activities are things that I do year after year, as it is with starting over, they all seem fresh and new each time I get to partake in them.  In fact, it is the feeling of anticipating new things to come, that makes those times so exciting.

What is it about starting over that you look forward to?  May your new beginning be filled with all that you’ve hoped for.

Peace and love,

Felecia

On Going Home

On Going home

on going homeA Quote to Carry You

November 24, 2014

“Sometimes [going] home and sleeping in your childhood room is all the rejuvenation your body and mind needs.”  Alexia Danielle

There is much wisdom in that simple statement isn’t there?  With the Thanksgiving holiday fast approaching, I am sure that we can all relate to the simple pleasures of just going home.  An excitement like no other builds as we think about being around family members and friends that we don’t get to visit with often enough.  Going home and being surrounded by the things that are so much a part of who we are does trigger a sense of rest and relaxation deep within us as well.  This year I plan to spend the holiday with my two sister, Marjorie and Andrea, and I can’t wait to see them!  Are you counting down the days, like I am?

I wish you much rest and rejuvenation while enjoying the very best of times with your family and friends…and prayers for safe travels going home!

Peace and love,

Felecia
