Joy comes in the morning for those walking in the power of the Lord…

“For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; ‘He will lead them to springs of living water.’  ‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.'” Revelation 7:17

Joy Comes in the Morning

(A poem dedicated to my dad, Edward Hyford Myers)

When evening fall it’s hard to see what’s just ahead;

Our vision is clouded as dusk turns into night.

A heaviness forms and hovers over us;

And we feel we can no longer fight.

Death seems like the ultimate end;

For in it seemingly there is no hope.

The heart stops beating, the last breath is drawn;

and those left behind struggle to cope.

But, as the night moves on and the dawn draws near,

A lightness breaks and encircles the earth.

A newness of life fills the hearts of all beings;

and joy comes in the morning full of hope as with the newness of birth.

we needn’t be troubled by yesterday’s fears,

The brightness of day blossoms like a budding flower.

For death has been conquered, everlasting life abounds.

Joy comes in the morning for those walking in the Lord’s power.

Over these past couple of weeks since my father’s passing, my heart has been filled with many powerful emotions.   During the times, when I remember how he suffered during his illness, I feel a heaviness as though night has filtered through and darkened my mind.  It saddens my heart to know that I can no longer hear his gentle voice; feel his love for me through his wisdom, guidance and advice; or  gaze upon his kind face while feeling so fortunate that my own bears such a close resemblance to his.  But then, when I think of that moment when he quietly passed on from this life, I can’t help but feel a sense of hope.  For I know that for daddy, joy truly did come in the morning, and he will forever more experience the brilliance of a new day dawning.

“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, our beings transformed into His image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord,who is the Spirit.”  2 Corinthians 3:18

I am grateful to the Lord for blessing my life with such a precious father.  Today and as long as I live, I will rejoice and celebrate his life.   Rest in peace daddy, I love you with all my heart…until we meet again.

Peace and love,

On Endings

On Endings

endingsA Quote to Carry You

December 28, 2015

“Verily I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.”  John 5:24

On endings – The nice thing about endings is that they herald beginnings.  When one thing ends, surely a new thing begins.  Life is perpetual, when some part of it dies, another part of it begins.  That cycle is true throughout all of nature, and it spans across both the physical and spiritual realms.  In a way, endings are not that at all.  For endings are beginnings…this is something that has been beautifully demonstrated to me recently.

I have a very dear friend who is nearing the end of her earthly life.  Although I have only known Angela for a short time, she is one of those special kinds of people who, when you meet them, it seems as though you’ve known them for your entire life.  As I have gotten to know my sweet friend over this past year, I’ve come to realize that God has given to me a very special gift; one that I shall cherish all of my days.  It saddens my heart to think that although I have so enjoyed the friendship that I have had the pleasure of sharing with Angela, it has become evident to me that, because of the aggressiveness of her illness, it may not be long before it ends.  Despite the very real possibility of our friendship coming to an end, somehow it seems as though it has only begun.

Over these past few months, I have been blessed by having the opportunity to meet some Angela’s family members and friends.  It brightens my heart each time they mention bits and pieces about her character to me.  Upon meeting this precious soul, I could tell very quickly that Angela had a deep compassion for others and an amazing willingness to help those around her.  That instinct was greatly substantiated by the stories about her life that Angela’s husband and mother have so graciously shared with me.  Even though Angela can no longer physically express the beauty that lies within her heart, I am reminded of her kind spiritedness whenever I think of her and the way she shared her love with others.  In that way, I see this particular ending truly as a beginning.

Endings need not be something to dread, especially when they bring with them the treasures that beginnings can carry with them.  The same is true with life.  In that God has given each of us the gift of life, it can never truly be taken away…for when physical life ends, spiritual life begins.  For those of us who have put our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, abiding in his love daily, what a glorious beginning spiritual life in His actual presence will be.  As it was when my husband passed on, just knowing that the ending of physical life sets in motion the beginning of eternal, spiritual life in Christ, provides all believers with an awesome sense of security and peace.  In that same way, it is my prayer that, when the time comes for Angela’s physical ending, her spiritual beginning in the Lord’s presence will usher in a sustaining hope for her loved ones.

When you face significant endings in your own life, may you experience the hope, joy and sustaining peace that their true beginnings bring.

(I dedicate this post to my dear friend Angela Mullings, who at the time of this writing, (12/10/15), continues her battle with cancer.  I want to thank you for being such an amazing inspiration to all of us who’ve been given the opportunity to know you.  Indeed, your kindness, compassion and love will live on through the lives you’ve touched throughout all eternity.  I love you sweet friend.)

Peace and love,

Felecia

On Giving and Thankfulness

On Giving and Thankfulness

giving and thankfulnessA Quote to Carry You

November 23, 2015

“The more I give, the more thankful I am.”  Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

On giving and thankfulness – There are many things going on in our world today that sadden my heart.  Sometimes even just hearing about all of the anguish, strife and suffering that continues to grow throughout our nations is so overwhelming that it threatens to steal my joy.  Not only that, but I often feel inadequate to make a difference; to help in a significant way.  When it comes to giving and thankfulness, however, I find my solace.

The more I give, the more thankful I am.  In fact, it is in giving, that I receive.  There is something about giving that fills my heart and fuels my joy more that any other activity that I engage in.  When I literally see a face brighten, or read words of thanks that express how much my efforts are appreciated, I receive so much more than I can ever give.

During this season of giving and thankfulness, may you receive an abundance of joy as you give  of yourself to others.

Wishing you a very Happy and blessed Thanksgiving.

Peace and love,

Felecia

Your Life Flows Through Me

life flows through me

Your life flows through me, that truth I shall never deny…

“He that believes on me, as the scripture said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”  John 7:38

Your Life Flows Through Me

Your life flows through me, indeed this is true,

I cannot imagine what I’d be Lord, without you.

A lifeless frame, without motion, without light;

like having a pair of eyes without the ability of sight.

The world around me would be foreign and cold.

My days wouldn’t matter; I’d just shrivel up and grow old.

Your life flows through me, therefore I am vibrant and strong!

In you I have a purpose, and to accomplish it is for what I long.

Each day that I awake, I seek your guidance on what to do.

In you is my hope, Lord, for true goodness only comes from you.

Your life flows through me, that truth I shall never deny.

May I always serve you willingly, never asking why.

What freedom, what peace, what joy you’ve given to me.

My thanks, my praise, my all, I give to thee.

Felecia R. Weber 2015, OntheWingofaDove.com

When I envision life, like the scripture above, I envision a stream of sparking water flowing through an exquisitely made frame that possesses a multitude of capabilities.  What is even more wondrous to me is who’s life actually flows through me…

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:  no man come unto the Father, but by me.”  John 14:6

May the life of the Lord flow within you…and may that life also flow into the lives of those around you.

Peace and love,

Felecia

On the Little Things

On the Little Things

the little thingsA Quote to Carry You

July 13, 2015

“In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.  For in the dew of little things the heart fins morning and is refreshed.”  Khalil Gibran

On the little things – I had the most delightful conversation with a dear friend this afternoon.  She started the conversation by telling me about how a song that played on the radio earlier in the day brought back fond childhood memories of her father.  Even though it had been many years ago, I could almost feel the joy that one of the little things in her life, such as how her dad enjoyed singing a particular phrase from that song, brought to her still.  Her story in turn, reminded me of a funny little gesture that my husband used to make when he’d hear songs that made him feel all happy inside…and that made my heart smile.

Indeed, it is the little things in life that so often spawn moments of happiness that lead to even deeper feelings of joy and peace…

May your day be filled with many little things that do just that!

Peace and love,

Felecia

“…No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things that God has prepared for those who love him.”  1 Corinthians 2:9

This verse explains it perfectly…that is my  future.  The hope, the wonder, the inexpressible joy that fills my heart when I think of what my Heavenly Father has in store for me; for my future.  I am beaming!

Peace and love,

Oh the Joy!

Oh the Joy

“Oh the Joy,” graphite & colored pencils drawing by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Oh the Joy!

Oh the joy, and the love that this season brings,

each day I’m reminded of many favorite things.

The chill in the air is so sparkling and clear,

the laughter, the singing, the voices full of cheer.

The oven filled with cookies and other sweet treats,

shoppers dashing around as their cars fill the streets.

The children bundled up and ready for much fun,

making snowmen that threaten to melt in the sun. Continue reading

Oh Happy Day!

Oh happy day

“Oh Happy Day!,” graphite pencil drawing by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

I feel like laughing, singing, jumping for joy…oh happy day!

I dedicate this post to my husband Stephen…I love you forever!

“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!  For His mercy endures forever.” Psalm 107:1

I am sure we’ve all experienced them, those days that you awaken with a song in your heart, a delightful feeling within you that makes you want to jump for joy or laugh aloud, just because.  I am having one of those days right now.  “Oh happy day!”  That’s what I want to shout out at the top of my lungs.  What is it that’s causing me to feel this way?
