Words for Worship – The Greatest Love Story Ever Told

”Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”

—John 15:13

The Greatest Love Story Ever Told – God loves us!  There are few truer statements.  In the Bible, Jesus tells us, “Greater love has no one than this:  to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13).  Can you think of any deeper love than that?  Certainly, there were plenty of romance movies circulating on television and social media this week in celebration of Valentine’s Day.  Those stories depict the most natural and committed love shared between two individuals.

No matter how devoted the characters are to one another, in real life or in the movies, it takes a very special kind of love to sacrifice one’s own life for.

But that’s exactly what God did for us…

”For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” —John 3:16

God made it possible for all of mankind to be saved from death and have eternal life, through his uncompromising and sacrificial love, when he gave up his only Son, Jesus Christ.  Indeed, the greatest love story ever told was written when Jesus died on the cross and rose again from the grave.  For he gave up his life for us.

Would you like to play a part in this love story?

You can…go ahead!  The script has already been written, and no audition is required.  All you need to do is invite Jesus into your heart.

Peace and Love,

Felecia

Do You Love Me?

Do you love me?

Do You Love Me? – Image property of www.OntheWingofaDove.com

Do you love me? – Love is an emotion that can spawn several different answers to that question…

”If you do not love me I shall not be loved.  If I do not love you I shall not love.”  —Samuel Beckett

Do You Love Me?

Do you love me? (Her)

Yes, I love you, of course I love you? (Him)

Why do you ask? (Him)

I don’t know, I guess I just need to be sure. (Her)

Do you love me? (Her)

I just answered that question…yes! (Him)

Why do you ask? (Him)

Sometimes it doesn’t seem as though you do. (Her)

Do you love me? (Her)

Can’t you tell?  I am here aren’t I? (Him)

But why are you here? (Her)

Because I LOVE you. (Him)

Do you love me? (Her)

I love you more than anything…please don’t ask me again. (Him)

Do you love me? (Him)

Yes, of course I love you.  Why do you ask? (Her)

Felecia R. Weber 2019, www.OntheWingofaDove.com

Do you love me? – That’s an age old question that has been asked by us and of us, I am sure more than once.  Love is an emotion that can spawn several different answers to that question.  Whether the reply is a verbal, “Yes, I love you.”, or shown by a tender hug or receiving a special gift, it is certainly a question that cannot be ignored…no matter how it is answered.

Do you love me? Is also a question that has a depth of meaning to it…

When someone asks Do you love me?, the very reason for asking that question may not even have anything to do with love.  I believe we all have an innate sense of whether we are loved or not.  Some forms of love are natural, such as the instinctual love that a mother has for her newborn child, and the romantic love that develops between two individuals that goes beyond just a physical attraction towards each other.  I suspect that we ask such a question more out of the need to be accepted by others, something that is not necessarily intrinsic, but rather based on one’s personal preferences.  It’s kind of like not wanting to be the proverbial last kid to be picked for the soccer team…won’t you pick me, please?…do you value who I am?

No doubt, this question will be asked in some form or another by many during this week as we celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Perhaps before you ask that question of another, why not try posing it to yourself? Do I love me?  Sounds kind of strange doesn’t it?  But isn’t it one of the most important questions to ask yourself?  And isn’t giving yourself an honest answer just as important?  Too many of us fail to realize how lovable we are…and in turn, how critical it is that we accept ourselves for who we are first.

”The second is this:  ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’  There is no command greater than these.”  —Luke 10:27

In the Bible, Jesus tells us to “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:27).  In fact, he states that it is the second most important of all the Ten Commandments; (“To love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind.” being the first).  But how can you love your neighbor if you don’t love and accept yourself?  I believe that we can genuinely love and accept those around us, our neighbors, co-workers, family members and friends, with an undeniable ferocity.  Can you imagine how dynamic such relationships would be if your love and acceptance of yourself were just as strong?  The first step in doing that however, is to love and accept the one who “…first loved us.”  (1 John 4:19)

Do you love me?  Before asking this questions, consider how much God loves you as the unique person he lovingly created you to be. When you embrace that truth…do you even need to ask the question at all?

Wishing you peace and much love,

Felecia ❤️

When I Look Outside My Window

When I Look Outside My Window

When I Look Outside My Window – Photograph property of www.OntheWingofaDove.com

“When I look outside my window – oh the beauty I see…the entire world opens up to me!

”Just because the past didn’t turn out like you wanted it to doesn’t mean your future can’t be better than you imagined.”  —Anonymous

When I Look Outside My Window

When I look outside my window,

Oh the beauty I see,

Colors so deep, so bright…

The entire world opens up to me.

When I look outside my window,

All is fresh and green and bright!

No darkness, no sadness, no fear at all.

All I ever wanted is within reach; it’s within sight!

When I look outside my window,

Oh, I can never look back…

What’s in the past is gone.

My future is full, there is nothing I lack.

When I look outside my window,

The Lord’s abundance awaits me there.

His love, His caring, His provision you see…

It’s all I need…and nothing else can compare.

Felecia R. Weber 2018, www.OntheWingofaDove.com

When I look outside my window – some days that scenery can be very drab and grey.  Sometimes it makes me just want to roll over and fall back asleep.  Other mornings can appear so bright, I feel as though the sun’s rays will burn a hole through the blinds! That’s how I feel when I think of what the Lord has planned for each and every one of us who put our trust in him.

”No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.” —1 Corinthians 2:9

My heart always seems to stand still whenever I read the above verse from the Bible.  I can’t help but feel a wave of exuberance that flows through my body, just like when I look outside my window and everything is vibrant and inviting.  I can almost feel the warmth of God’s love shining down on me just thinking about the future that he has planned for me!

Can you fathom all that God has planned for you?  Can you imagine his goodness and glory all rolled into one?  No one can conceive such an awesome delight…but when you trust in him, you’ll experience the peace, the provision, and love that is ours through the gift of his Son.

Peace and love,

Felecia

I Matter

I Matter

“I Matter” Photograph property of OntheWingofaDove.com 2018

I matter, though the world may not see…gonna reveal to the world all the gifts God has given me…

“It’s not what has happened to you.  It’s who you become because of it.”  – Ria Story

I Matter

I matter, you must know…

Within me a seed was planted, so long ago.

Yeah, I’ve made mistakes; haven’t we all?

But something inside me picks me up when I fall.

I matter, can you tell? Can’t you see?

There’s this power that resides in the deepest part of me.

Oh, I know, I’m quiet, polite and shy…

But, I’ve grown my wings…now it’s time for me to fly.

I matter, though the world may not see…

Gonna reveal to all, the gifts God has given me.

A life well-lived is not to keep to oneself…

So I’m opening myself up, like taking a book off the shelf.

I matter, what I have is unique and worth sharing…

And to everyone in my life, thanks for all of your love and caring.

Felecia R. Weber

I Matter – The truth is, everyone matters, but sometimes we are the last ones to realize it.  We all have been endowed with  gifts that are uniquely our own. Be they talents for music, art or writing, having an aptitude for working well with numbers, or being able to build or fix things with ease…we all have something to offer others…including our own life experiences.

My challenge to you is to determine what it is you do best…that thing that makes you matter…and share it with those around you.  Sharing a part of yourself with others is what makes you matter the most!

Peace and love,

Felecia

On Warmth

On Warmth

on warmthA Quote to Carry You

August 3, 2015

“The consciousness of loving and being loved brings a warmth and richness to life that nothing else can bring.”  Oscar Wilde

On warmth – Warmth comes in many different forms, and in many different degrees.  Indeed, this summer we are experiencing some of the hottest temperatures ever recorded.  Sometimes the warmth of the bright sun combined with a thick layer of humidity can feel dense enough to slice through.  During this time of year, there have been days where droplets of sweat have formed on my forehead after taking just one step outside the door!  Be that as it may, there is one form of warmth that can heat up our hearts even faster…the warmth of love.

To me, being loved and genuinely wanted and cared for can cause a warmth to radiate straight through to my heart.  In fact, knowing that I am truly loved can spark a flame within me that causes my entire world to glow.  To experience the warmth that is produced by love is a temperature that I am comfortable with any time of year.

May your heart be wrapped so tightly within a blanket of love today that its warmth causes you to glow…and warm up others around you.

Peace and love,

Felecia

All Blessings Flow

All blessings flow

Photograph by Felecia R. Weber 2015, OntheWingofaDove.com

All blessings flow from God above and their purposes are sure…

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights…” James 1:17

All Blessings Flow

All blessings flow from God above,

no matter what we do.

They can’t be bought, they can’t be earned;

they show the greatness of God’s love for you.

All blessings flow from God above,

and their purposes are sure.

They have a way of perfecting our hearts;

so that there is nothing we can’t endure.

All blessings flow from God above,

they are filled with love and peace, never strife.

They come in many ways, in all shapes and sizes.

What blessings have you experienced in your life?

Felecia R. Weber 2015, OntheWingofaDove.com

Indeed, all blessings do flow from God above, and many of them are easy to see all around us.  They are brilliantly displayed in nature, they come at just the right moment, and often times they come in ways we’ve never expected.

Why not take a moment to ponder the ways in which God has blessed you in your life…and offer up thanks and praise to him.  When you think about it, being able to do that is a blessing in itself!

Peace and love,

Felecia

Something About Being a Father

Being a father

Photograph by Feleica R. Weber 2015, OntheWingofaDove.com

There’s something about being a father…to his family he is their  protector, provider and friend.

“I cannot think of any need in childhood as strong as the need for a father’s protection.”  Sigmund Freud

Something About Being a Father

There’s something about being a father,

to his family he is their protector, provider and friend.

There is nothing that he will keep from his precious ones,

for a father’s responsibility…does it ever end?

There’s something about being a father,

his love swells when he gazes into his child’s eyes.

A father provides instruction, guidance and encouragement;

his character imparts a steadfast integrity; never will he compromise.

There’s something about being a father,

by setting a consistent and honorable example he leads.

No matter what circumstances hurl themselves at their lives,

a father unselfishly strives to meet his family’s needs.

Felecia R. Weber 2015, OntheWingofaDove.com

My best wishes to all father, for a very Happy Father’s Day!

Peace and love,

Felecia

Something About Being a Mother

Something about being a mother

This photograph captures what I tried to express in my poem below, “There’s Something About Being a Mother.” Pictured here is first-time mom Jennifer Spangler and her adorable baby girl, Lilli.

There is something about being a mother, that inseparable bond…between mother and child.

“Mother, the ribbons of your love are woven around my heart.”  Author Unknown

Something About Being a Mother

There is something about being a mother,

her love for her child creates an inseparable bond.

She sees every action, hears every word, she senses every thought.

Her love has no boundaries that her child can go beyond.

There is something about being a mother,

you have to experience being one to know…

how difficult, how wonderful, how caring for the needs of another,

can give you the strength to go to depths you otherwise would not go.

There is something about being a mother,

she gives all that she can for her precious child.

She teaches, she admonishes, she points to the best way to go.

No matter if she’s disappointed; her love is still tender and mild.

There is something about being a mother,

it is a privilege not every woman has known.

The awesome responsibility, the heartache, the joy.

She is like a beautiful blossom, that grows from a seed deeply sown.

Poem by Felecia R. Weber 2015, Onthewingofadove.com; photograph courtesy of Ian Spangler (Lilli’s proud daddy!)

My best wishes to all mothers, for a very Happy Mother’s Day!

Peace and love,

Felecia
