Hold On to the Music

Hold On to the Music

Hold On to the Music – No matter what tempo the music of life is playing at any given moment…we can stay in harmony when we tune our ears, and our hearts, to the song God has composed for each of us.

”It’s easy to play any musical instrument: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time and the instrument will play itself.”  —Johann Sebastian Bach

Hold On to the Music

Hold on to the music,

Just let the lyrics sing.

For we never know what tempo

Each season of life will bring.

Hold on to the music,

Just let the instruments play.

When God is your conductor,

He’ll surely guide your way.

Hold on to the music,

Just let the melody hum.

Living surrendered to Him,

No matter what…blessings will come.

Felecia R. Weber 2019, www.OntheWingofaDove.com

Hold on to the music – Sometimes life can seem like a symphony being performed by an orchestra.  I often imagine myself as a musician playing a different instrument during each season of my life.  I visualize God as the conductor, with his baton leading me through the continuous rythym of each day.  I savor the tranquility of the calm melody that soothes my ears when things are going smoothly.  But before long, the steady beat of my drum gradually explodes into a crescendo of uncontrollable circumstances that throw me off-key.

“No matter what tempo the music of life is playing at any given moment…we can stay in harmony when we tune our ears, and our hearts, to the song God has composed for each of us.”

Holding on to the music of life requires listening with our hearts, because when we live under God’s direction, it really is like hearing a love song.  Musically, nothing tugs at my emotions more than the long, rich strands of a bough gliding along the strings of a violin.  God’s love for us is like that, so deep and full, there is nothing that can separate us from him.  Whether life sings a joyous hallelujah or the most solemn of requiems, we need only hold on to the music of our composer’s voice.  For his love transcends anything we can possibly face.

”I am living my life to the beat of a different drum, and making my own beautiful music along the way.” —FRW

It’s Like a Whisper

It’s Like a Whisper – the wind rustling through bare branches, the hushed tones of footprints in the snow…

”O, wind, if winter comes, can spring be far behind?” —Percy Bysshe Shelley

It’s Like a Whisper

It’s like a whisper,

The wind rustling through bare branches,

The hushed tones of footprints in the snow.

Winter’s voice…in the night is crystal clear;

Its chill stings the body from head to toe.

It’s like a whisper,

One can sense the heaviness in the air,

Green leaves turn to orange, yellow and brown,

No signs of life; all that was bright has faded away.

Winter’s howl beckons the respect of a crown.

It’s like a whisper,

Tiny, glistening snowflakes fall, hardly making a sound.

The cold has settled in, long nights linger on;

As winter’s white blanket covers the ground.

Felecia R. Weber 2018, www.OntheWingofaDove.com

It’s like a whisper – Indeed winter is here!  Living in northwestern Pennsylvania will almost guarantee a long, cold season.  Just thinking about the lake effect snow sends a shiver up my spine!  Although I am not fond of the harsh weather that can make the next few months difficult to maneuver, winter does offer us a quiet kind of beauty…

”Even in winter an isolated patch of snow has a special quality.” —Andy Goldworthy

So far, we’ve had a least three heavy snowfalls here over the past month.  On those dark mornings, I was awakened by the delicate tapping of wind-strewn snowflakes on my bedroom windows.  When I peered into the night, through still sleep-filled eyes, indeed the scene was like a whisper.  The wind played a low, whirl of a melody, causing the bluster of snow to dance every which way in the air.  The glistening, white mounds grew silently, as the snow covered everything on the ground with it’s pristine shimmer.  What a sight to behold…truly a winter wonder…until I had to get out there and shovel the drive way!

May winter whisper a tale of beauty in your ears, and fill your eyes with magical delights…enjoy!

Do Not See Me

Do Not See Me

Do not see me amongst the crowd…let me fade into the scenery…

”Sometimes being invisible is the best way to prepare to be seen.”  —FRW

Do Not See Me

Do not see me amongst the crowd…

let me fade into the scenery.

I am not looking; I don’t want to be found.

For now I’m not the flower…I’m simply the greenery.

Do not see me when you pass me by;

I’ll just keep going, turning neither left, nor right.

Let me fade into the horizon that stretches out ahead.

The day is almost over; soon to come is the night.

Do not see me, please, it’s far too soon.

There is so much to do and to prepare.

Everything has a season, a time, and a place.

Trust me, when I’m ready…with you, I’ll be there.

Felecia R. Weber, 2018 www.OntheWingofaDove

”Do not see me” – now that’s kind of a strange thing to say.  One certainly cannot make himself invisible.  Nonetheless, we all have times in our lives when we simply do not want to be seen or heard for that matter.  We just want to slip away and be by ourselves to think, to rest…to “be.”

In today’s world, life can seem like just a long string of interruptions.  Between our cell phones ringing and dinging every five seconds, to those unexpected “events” rearing their not so appealing heads just at the wrong time, being “unseen” seems impossible…but it isn’t really.

”Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.’  So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.”  Mark 6:31-32

Taking time to get away from the clamor of life is important.  We all need time to just be by ourselves, no matter who we are or what occupation we partake in.  In the scripture verse quoted above,  Jesus not only instructed his disciples, but he also set an wise example for us today, to do that very thing.  When life’s activities become overwhelming…when we are “seen” too much…that’s the time we need to step away and say, “do not see me.”

We all need time to rest, relax and renew.  No matter what it takes, be sure to do just that for “you.”

Peace and love,

Felecia

Every Shade is Beautiful

Every shade is beautiful – unique in its own hue, but what lies below the surface…that’s what makes you, you!

”Beauty is the illumination of the soul.”  —John O’Donohue

Every Shade is Beautiful

Every shade is beautiful,

No matter the color or hue.

The outer wrapping is just a layer,

The real treasure is hidden from view.

Every shade is beautiful,

Red, yellow, white and black.

No two persons are just alike;

Each one has a uniqueness to unpack.

Every shade is beautiful,

It’s yours, one only you can define.

The world sees only one dimension…

So let your own brightness shine!

Felecia R. Weber 2018, www.OntheWingofaDove.com

Every shade is beautiful – Even though autumn signals the fading away of sunny, summer flowers and lush green vegetation, it is also a season full of colorful vibrancy!  Taking in the crisp hues of red, brown, orange and gold that paint the leaves still dangling from the trees and the hearty harvest of pumpkins and gourds, I can’t help but think of how stunning are the shades of the peoples of the world…everyone as lovely as the next!

There is no question that it’s the breathtaking variety of colors that make autumn such a delightful treat for our eyes.  I beleive, though, that there is so much more to the season that warms our hearts.  The same can be said of people…for our beauty is not simply skin deep.  Indeed, every shade is beautiful, unique in its own hue, but what lies below the surface…that’s what makes you, you!

Peace and love,

Felecia

On Colors

On Colors

on colorsA Quote to Carry You

September 21, 2015

“The best color in the world is the one that looks good on you.”  Coco Chanel

On colors – We are entering one of the most colorful of the four seasons.  Autumn brings with it the brightest of golden to the deepest of reddish hues.  There is something about the range of these bold colors that makes me feel vibrant and alive!  When I gaze at the trees of this season adorned in such rich tones, it makes me think of how magnificently God has painted each of us. Like the chromatic scheme that saturates the leaves in nature, we too have a way of embellishing the world around us with the way we wear the colors that we’ve been given.  From the soft pastels of compassion and caring that we extend to those who are in need, to the cheerful, dazzling smiles that brighten the days of those who may be struggling, we all possess within us the finest wardrobe, that when worn well, can positively enhance and inspire the lives of others.  What colors do others see in you?

May you always wear your colors boldly and beautifully!

Peace and love,

Felecia

Joy – What’s in a word?

Joy

“A Fresh Start,” photograph by Felecia R. Weber 2015, OntheWingofaDove.com

Joy – What’s in a word? Feeling like spring is finally upon us, I can honestly say that I feel like jumping for joy!

Happiness, gladness, pleasure, delight.

When I have joy in my heart,

there is no sadness in sight!

Joy makes me feel radiant,

all shining and new.

As fresh as a field all covered in the morning dew!

Happy, delighted, pleased, glad…

What’s in this word for you?  If you can tell me, please do!

Joy is what I felt when I got glimpse of the brilliant yellow petals of the crocus blossom in the photograph above.  After experiencing one of the harshest winters and only just now feeling like spring is finally upon us, I can honestly say that I feel like jumping for joy!  It feels so wonderful to step outside to feed the birds, check the mail or even take out the garbage, when I am greeted at the door by the fresh warmth of the season.  I’ve noticed that my little dog Bilbo and I seem to linger longer on our morning and evening walks…the air is filled with joy!

May you be filled with a brightness today, and may you share your joy with others along the way.

Peace and love,

Felecia

The Wisdom In Waiting

wisdom in waiting

“Winter Yosemite Valley,” 1933-34, Ansel Easton Adams. Image from a page of the 2013 Desk Calendar, courtesy of The Metropolitan Museum of Art Store

The wisdom in waiting…as we all know, the snow takes time to melt no matter how brightly the sun is shining; and so, we wait…

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”  Hebrews 11:1

The wisdom in waiting is rather difficult to imagine during the hustle and bustle of this holiday season.  It seems like time flies through our fingers as fast as the snow covers the ground during a wintery blizzard.  No sooner do we check off the items on our seemingly endless holiday “to do” lists, then another flurry of new tasks fill our hands!  Isn’t it strange, though, that with all of our time drifting away, it seems like Christmas takes forever to arrive?  So, we wait…

I have gone through a very difficult time this year.  Like the “nor’easter” winter storms that we’ve been experiencing lately, I feel like I’ve been trudging through a heavy whirlwind of difficulties.  I’ve often found myself wanting to fast forward through this trying season straight to happier times.   But, as we all know, the snow takes time to melt no matter how brightly the sun is shining; and so, we wait…

Indeed there is wisdom in waiting, and despite my circumstances, I have found that the longer I wait, the more prepared I am to receive what I am so desperately waiting for.  Like a child on Christmas morning, when I finally get to enjoy what I’ve longed for, it makes the wait so much more worthwhile.  Then, the dreaded blustery storms that threatened to hinder me from moving forward seem like soft and silent winterscapes that fill my eyes with the quiet beauty of the season.

“There is wisdom in waiting, even though it can’t be seen.  When troubles surround us high and low. Waiting increases our expectations of what we long for and dream; and surely, it causes our faith to grow.” Felecia R. Weber 2014, OntheWingofaDove.com

As you weather the storms that seem to steal away your time this holiday season…may you too find wisdom in waiting.

Peace and love,

Felecia

Oh the Joy!

Oh the Joy

“Oh the Joy,” graphite & colored pencils drawing by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Oh the Joy!

Oh the joy, and the love that this season brings,

each day I’m reminded of many favorite things.

The chill in the air is so sparkling and clear,

the laughter, the singing, the voices full of cheer.

The oven filled with cookies and other sweet treats,

shoppers dashing around as their cars fill the streets.

The children bundled up and ready for much fun,

making snowmen that threaten to melt in the sun. Continue reading
