I just want to thank you Lord – you never really know what it means to trust in and follow the Lord until he gives you something to trust him in and follow him through…

”No matter what our circumstances, we can find a reason to be thankful.”  —Dr. David Jeremiah

I Just Want to Thank You Lord

We never know  where life will lead us,

Looking back over recent years…

I just want to thank you Lord,

For keeping me close to you, despite all of my fears.

It’s funny how we search for answers,

Even when the questions have not been spoken…

I just want to thank you Lord,

For making me whole, even after all of my pieces were broken.

Not a day goes by that I cannot say…

”It’s amazing how everything falls into place!”

I just want to thank you Lord,

For putting into motion all that I’ve had to face.

There is nothing that happens by chance…

No happiness, no trial, no sorrow,

I just want to thank you Lord,

For you are with me yesterday, today and tomorrow.

I just want to thank you Lord  – I find myself saying that a lot lately.  I know, this is the season where we reflect upon all of the good things that have happened to us over the past year.  I must say though, my gratitude for what God has done in my life has become a daily posture.

“From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.”  —Luke 12:48

It was in my “attitude of gratitude” that I finally understood the meaning of the above scripture, when I read it during my devotions  a few days ago.  I’ve faced quite a few difficult circumstances and challenges over the past four years; beginning with the loss of my husband to cancer, to a family crisis that has led me back to the place where my life began.  Through it all I’ve learned a big lesson…

You never really know what it means to trust in and follow the Lord until he gives you something to trust him in and follow him through.

It wasn’t until I actually had to face and go through those very trying experiences, that I knew personally what it means to be so grateful for the Lord’s working in my life that I actually thank him for ALL things, both the bad and the good.  I’ve learned that, many times, we must go through the bad times in order to get to the good times…and when you think about it, that’s part of what makes the good times so good!

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you too, for taking the time to visit www.onthewingofadove.com.  It is because of you that helps make living life so beautiful!

Peace and love,

Thanks for visiting…please help inspire others by sharing this post!

On Sufficiency

On Sufficiency

sufficiencyA Quote to Carry You

October 12, 2015

“The fishermen know that the sea is dangerous and the storm terrible, but they have never found these dangers sufficient reason for remaining ashore.”  Vincent Van Gogh

On sufficiency – Sufficiency, having enough, is a wonderful thing.  It provides us with a sense of security and satisfaction.  After all, we do not know what tomorrow will bring, and what fills today’s hours are sufficient enough to see us through until we get there.  Living for today, however, does not mean just that…we do have a responsibility to prepare for what lies ahead in the future.  What I’ve just written sounds a bit contradictory, I know, but is it really?

There is a delicate balance between so many things in life…being full of worry and anxiety verses being concerned but walking in faith about a situation for example.  We walk the tightrope between trekking through today and stepping too far into tomorrow constantly…or at least I do.  Sometimes I have wandered so far into tomorrow that I feel I’ve already lived it and I’m ready to leap into the day after.  When I continue to forge ahead into the future, I find myself stumbling back to the present, often times frustrated and exhausted too.  Indeed, the principle of living on the sufficiency for the day proves to be the best way to maintain a sure-footed stride through today…and there is plenty left for tomorrow.

Walking in balance between today and tomorrow always seems to be the wisest way to go.  For when we strive always to do our best with what we are given today, I believe the results of our efforts will pave the way for a rewarding tomorrow.

Peace and love,

Felecia

So, You Say

so, you say

So, you say don’t try too hard.  But if I don’t dream…I will merely sleep.

“Life is meant to be lived…so live it!”  Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

So, You Say

So, you say I shouldn’t do that.

It’s not what’s expected.

But, what if I do?

Will the world fall apart?

So, you say it’s too risky.

What will others think?

But, what will others think?

Does that really matter so much?

So, you say slow down,

tomorrow’s another day.

But, what about today?

Why not fill it up fully first?

So, you say don’t try too hard;

that way you won’t be disappointed.

But, if I don’t dream…

I will merely sleep.

Many times we have to follow our own instincts, that God-given voice that provides wisdom and guidance when we are not certain what to do.  Those whom we trust can provide valuable insight and advise…but ultimately it is your life to live. Taking risks; exploring territory that you’ve never even imagined; taking the plunge into something you’ve always wanted to try…life is meant to be lived…so live it!”

Be inspired, explore, reach higher…soar!

Peace and love,

Let the Day Unfold

let the day unfold

“Today,” photograph by Marilyn Hill

Let the day unfold – each new day is full of wonder.

Each new day is full of wonder; no two are exactly alike.  A while back when I had the rare opportunity to sit down and reflect on things, I thought about how precious each day is.  We cannot know what is inside each one until we let the day unfold and live it.

Following are some thoughts on just that.  Come along with me and let the day unfold…

Imagine…a new day has just rolled over the horizon.  The sun tickles your eyelids until they give in and open wide.  Suddenly streams of yellow rays spill over the soft blue sky; a celebration!  Night has given way to the brilliance of the morning!

All of nature starts to come alive after a night’s slumber.  The fluttering chirps of the early birds fill the air; a sound that is so much nicer to wake up to than the alarm clock.  Soon it becomes a melody sung by a full chorus in flight and it beckons you to peer out of the open window to find out what they are singing about.

Breathing deeply, you take in the freshness of the morning deep into your lungs. Now your whole body is ready to face whatever it is the day has in store for you.  Your senses tingle at the excitement of what lies ahead.  Certainly there are the normal tasks that you expect to fulfill, but what about the treasures that are tucked away just waiting for you to discover them?  As each hour offers its precious gift of seconds and minutes to you…don’t let them tick by without making the best of each one!

When you’ve come to the end of the day’s journey, what will you do with the remnants of your adventure?  Share them with your family over dinner; write them down and savor the details of your favorite parts?  Whichever way you chose to end today, just remember another day is right around the corner…like a beautiful carpet wound up at the top of the stairs…ready to unroll and color each step of tomorrow.

A happy day to you!

Felecia

“Today and every new day is a gift to be opened…you cannot return it; you will never receive the same on twice.  Live it, enjoy it, savor it…that is my advice!”  Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Today is unique, like an unopened package waiting to be torn into.  Twenty-four hours can rush by like a flash, or it can seem like a lifetime just waiting for them to pass.  We never know when our next today will be no more.  So go ahead, live yours with boldness…see what for you, it has in store!

A happy today, to you!

The Good Old Days

The Good Old Days

“Pale Roses,” photograph by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

They say “there’s no time like the present,” but I’ll never forget “the good old days!”

The Good Old Days

The good old days were times when life was simpler,

there seemed not so much to worry about.

We lived today for today, and tomorrow for tomorrow.

The good old days had a slower pace,  a soothing cadence,

no frenzied chaos, no need to be instantaneous.

The good days were times when life seemed a bit sweeter,

when “stopping to smell the roses” was not just a saying.

The good old days were times that we can never really go back and visit,

but we can hold onto our memories of them, where they will always exist.

Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

May you never forget your “good old days”…let them fill your days with the all of the things that you cherish and hold dear about them.

Peace,

Felecia

Nope, not going there…

Nope, not going there...

“Glorious,” photograph by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Nope, not going there…tomorrow is for tomorrow, today is for today!

Left unto myself, I am a worrier.  I think it is because I am such a detail-oriented person by nature, that I get way too wrapped up in the tasks that need to be done and how I am going to accomplish them.  It doesn’t matter if I am planning to do something that I enjoy or if it is something that I consider to be burdensome, I still get caught up in the details!  At times, it takes me longer to plan out how I am going to execute a project  or whatever it may be, than it actually takes me to do  it. “Nope, not going there!” is what I say, when I find myself spending more time today,  planning for what needs to be done tomorrow. The details, the details; sometimes they cause my head to spin! STOP!

Stop!

Stop!…it seems so easy, but it can be one of the hardest things to do!

STOP!

Slow down, take it easy, do not go so fast,

don’t rush through life, pause and reflect on the past.

Today is here now for us to enjoy,

tomorrow has enough of its own to employ.

When we stop and rest and take each moment in,

we may just be surprised at where the best things begin.

Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.  Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.  Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:33-34
