At the end of myself…where I truly begin.

“I never voyaged so far in all my life.” Henry David Thoreau

It seems strange to say it, but I have an overwhelming sense at the moment, that I am exactly where I am supposed to be in life.  A place that has taken some time for me to reach.  It is a place that I call being at the end of myself.  Wait a minute, you may be thinking…where is she going with this?  Here, let me explain.

I suppose one would describe me as being an individual who is disciplined, hard working, driven, and not afraid to step outside of the box or to take on a challenge.  I never want to miss out on an opportunity that will allow me to improve myself, especially when it comes to my creative interests.  At the same time, there is a part of me that is vulnerable; not always so confident that I can achieve what I set out to do; not always certain that I am heading in the right direction.   Continue reading

Going Farther…

Going Farther

“Daydreaming,” photograph of my niece Leia Gabrielle

Going Farther

Long is the road that we travel in life,

From the fullness of joy, to raging anger and strife.

There are hidden pathways that lure us away,

they distract us for a season, or perhaps just one day.

Doors fling wide open, then slam closed and  tightly shut, Continue reading

From the Inside Out

From the Inside Out

“Into the Light,” photograph by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

We are fearfully and wonderfully made…from the inside out…

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well” Psalm 139:14

Have you ever considered what it is that makes you who you are from the inside out? Have you ever sat and meditated on all of the intricacies that have come together to make you the person that you’ve become thus far? Continue reading

Taste and See

Taste and See

“Taste and see that The Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him!” Psalm 34:8

We cannot always know what lies ahead of us.  Sometimes it feels as though we can barely wade through the murky waters that seem to flood out anything good in our lives.  The dimness that has captured our focus surrounds us and threatens to pull us down.  When even a glimmer of hope comes along, we tend to grasp it so tightly, as if our lives depend upon it.  What is it? Where does the strength to rise up out of any grave situation with a vibrancy that can conquer the darkest night come from? Continue reading

Enduring

Goodness, love, mercy,

charity, faith, hope,

these are all the things,

that enable me to cope.

When life is challenging,

when I want to give up,

I think on these things,

and The Lord fills my cup. Continue reading

Friendship

Friendship

“Best Friends,” graphite pencil drawing by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

There are many types and levels of friendship, but the truest and deepest ones, they are what I love the most.

Let’s face it, developing a friendship can be hard work.  We all have our own idiosyncrasies and deep down, we all have the tendency to put ourselves first.  That’s just part of being human.  Another thing that we all have in common, is the need to be loved and cared for in some way or another.  I believe that it is the balancing of all of these factors  that makes for a  true, fulfilling and worthwhile friendship.

“A friend loveth at all times” Proverbs 17:17 Continue reading

My Little Friend

My Little Friend

My little friend “Bilbo”

My Little Friend…some friends have more than two feet!

This poem was inspired by my little four-legged friend, our Yorkie named “Bilbo”.  He is living proof that friends come in all sizes, shapes, and they are not always human!

My Little Friend

My Little Friend

“Bilbo”…a little tuckered out after a few too many rounds of playing fetch!

My little friend is cute

and oh so funny.

He is warm, cuddly,

and as sweet as honey.

He barks, a lot, he loves attention,

he loves to walk, to play,

and to bark, did I mention? Continue reading

Oh Happy Day!

Oh happy day

“Oh Happy Day!,” graphite pencil drawing by Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

I feel like laughing, singing, jumping for joy…oh happy day!

I dedicate this post to my husband Stephen…I love you forever!

“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!  For His mercy endures forever.” Psalm 107:1

I am sure we’ve all experienced them, those days that you awaken with a song in your heart, a delightful feeling within you that makes you want to jump for joy or laugh aloud, just because.  I am having one of those days right now.  “Oh happy day!”  That’s what I want to shout out at the top of my lungs.  What is it that’s causing me to feel this way? Continue reading
