Random Thoughts

My mind is scattered;

little broken pieces,

Thoughts racing ahead of me,

and they just don’t fit!

This way, that way,

where do I go next?

Stop for a moment?

There’s no time for that!

Always more to be done.

Will it ever end?

Now the day is over,

And another one has begun!

Felecia R. Weber, OntheWingofaDove.com

Sometimes my days resemble a whirlwindI can’t seem to finish one thing, before I have to give my immediate attention to something else.  If I were to take a snapshot at any given moment,  I’d have so many bits and pieces left unfinished, it would look like one giant jigsaw puzzle.  Random thoughts that belong together, but just don’t quite fit!  I was having one of those days when I wrote this poem. Fortunately these types of days are not the norm, but they do serve to remind me to …slow down, get back on track, and take things one step at a time.

May these types of days be few and far between for you…enjoy!

Felecia

Wonderful drawing, Felecia. Sam’s gaze is just right. I have a most daunting painting of Roy and his late hunting dog on the easel right now. I find when I am really challenged with artwork, I let myself stray away into the “busies” like in your poem! In my case, it’ s not just that there is “always more to be done”, but that there is always busy work to disengage me from the long, intense quietness needed to make art.
It is so self-defeating to give in to the call of the busies, when I know so well how much more focused and productive and energized I am after quiet time with my Lord in my studio. Thanks for your thought provoking blog!

Thanks Pam. I know exactly what you mean about letting the “stuff of life” get in the way of settling down to my artwork…why do we do that? Ugh! I think, for me, it is because to have such a gift is so precious that I sometimes don’t feel that I cannot live up to it…silly I know, but I too am elated and energized when I do sit down and draw. It is as if I enter into a totally different realm. I hope to do just that this evening…I am excited about starting a new series of drawings.

      I truly appreciate you comment.

      Peace and love,
      Felecia

Thanks Lew…yep, the expression on that little curious pup’s face conveys a lot of what those busy days feel like to me!
